Grace, love and peace to each and everyone in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
Let us dive into our Bible Study on Ephesians 1:17-19
This passage talks about the prayer that Paul did and every believer needs to start praying because there are many spiritual insights in this prayer.
Paul prayed that the Ephesians might really understand who Christ is.
Christ is our model, and the more we know Christ, the more we will be like Christ.
Personal knowledge of Christ is life – changing.
Ephesians 1:17-19
17 I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, would give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. 18 I pray that the perception of your mind may be enlightened so you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the glorious riches of His inheritance among the saints, 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power to us who believe, according to the working of His vast strength.
We should learn to pray this prayer because it is a spiritual prayer which does not talk about physical things but it talks about the Spiritual things.
This prayer gives us a deeper understanding why most of the Christians remain as baby Christians rather than growing in Christ.
Our Prayers are self-centered
Our prayers are selfish
Our Prayers are for our physical benefit.
* Glorious Father
* Spirit of Wisdom
* Spirit of Revelation
* Knowledge of God
* Perception of our mind
* Enlightened
* Immeasurable greatness of His Power
* Belief
* Working of His vast strength
Paul’s prayer starts of saying I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ
We pray to the Father in Jesus name.
We pray to God in Jesus’ name.
This is something that we need to understand.
John 16:23-24
“I assure you: Anything you ask the Father in My name, He will give you. 24 Until now you have asked for nothing in My name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.
Jesus is talking about prayer.
Whatever we ask of the Father – we will receive.
We don’t pray to Jesus
We have fellowship with Jesus
We address Jesus in the prayer to the Father.
We pray to the Father in the name of Jesus.
When I am praying to the Father we ask in the name of Jesus.
Hopefully you have understood.
Let’s see what Jesus taught us in the Heavenly Prayer.
Matthew 6:9
Our Father in heaven, Your name be honored as holy.
Our Prayers are addressed to the Father but we have boldness and confidence through Christ Jesus.
Hebrews 10:19
Therefore, brothers, since we have boldness to enter the sanctuary through the blood of Jesus,
Ephesians 3:12
In Him we have boldness and confident access through faith in Him.
John 16:23-24
“I assure you: Anything you ask the Father in My name, He will give you. 24 Until now you have asked for nothing in My name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.
Everything is given by Father in heaven and we receive it or pray in Jesus name.
Now this prayer tells about our glorious Father.
We should pray that Father would give us the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.
Every believer should pray that we should receive the spirit of Wisdom
Every believer should pray that we should receive the spirit of Revelation
Every believer should pray that we should receive the knowledge of God.
Just think if a believer has the spirit of wisdom – he or she will be able to apply the wisdom and when wisdom is applied the path would be opened and they would make right decisions and will not be deceived.
If a believer has the spirit of Revelation – everything that the natural eye cannot see our spiritual man will start seeing and we will start living in the revelation.
Deuteronomy 29:29
The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.
If a believer lives in the knowledge of God he would not be ignorant of the works of God and the believer would start knowing what’s the right path and will not be deceived.
