Gaining Wisdom and understanding
Proverbs 1:2-3
For learning what wisdom and discipline are;
for understanding insightful sayings;
for receiving wise instruction
in righteousness, justice, and integrity;
There is a difference between Knowledge and Wisdom.
The primary difference between the two words is that wisdom involves a healthy dose of perspective and the ability to make sound judgments about a subject while knowledge is simply knowing.
Proverbs talks about gaining or learning of Wisdom.
Who is the teacher of Wisdom.
We all need wisdom so that we can make sound judgment in our life.
Many people have fallen in wrong ways because they don’t have wisdom.
Wisdom is not received, it is learnt or gained.
Proverbs 1:2 & 3 talks about Gaining
* Wisdom
* Instruction or discipline
*Receiving Wise Instruction or Understanding
* Receiving Prudent behavior
Look at these terms: they are huge but play an important role in an individual.
We receive Wisdom, instruction, Understanding,
Prudent behavior in Righteousness and Justice and integrity.
Righteousness means the quality of being morally right or justifiable.
Young people would think about righteousness as the last item in their list because in the mind of youth so many things run – they think about –Â friends, enjoyment, hanging around, fun, travelling, lies, cheating and many other things but being morally right is not involved.
Morally right means you don’t need someone to keep telling you
what is right and what is wrong.
You set yourself a principle saying
I will not smoke
I will not drink
I will not tell lie
Morally you keep yourself a standard and you don’t miss that standard.
Justice means just behaviour or treatment.
You don’t wait for someone to treat you just
but your treat everyone with respect and love and care.
Justice is not taken but it is given.
We live in a just way in every aspect of life which implies that
we don’t cheat anyone knowingly.
Lies and deceiving behavior is out of our list.
Integrity means the quality of being honest and
having strong moral principles.
Being honest wherever you are is called integrity.
When you have integrity you don’t need someone to keep pushing you to tell the Truth or change your lifestyle because you speak what is there in your heart.
What is right and what is perfect will come from your mouth.
When Righteousness, Justice and Integrity is in our lives we will Gain
* Wisdom
* Instruction or discipline
* Receive Wise Instruction or Understanding
* Receive Prudent behavior
