God’s Gift

Grace, Love and Peace to each and everyone in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Can someone tell
Galatians 3:26
for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.

So we have been learning:
* The Power of Salvation
* In Christ Jesus

Today let us study from Ephesians 2:8 – 9
For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift—Not from works, so that no one can boast.

Many people look for God’s gift and they think
riches and honor is God’s gift
Having blessings is God’s gift
Having much prosperity is God’s gift

But the Bible tells there is a spiritual truth that every believer needs to understand.

God’s gift is something that changes our lives and our future.

The Word of God goes on to tell – How are we saved?

We are saved by Grace.
Grace means we don’t deserve it but we have been given.

We are saved by Grace

We are not saved of Grace
We are not saved for Grace

But we are saved by Grace.

We should not forget that Grace is something that we don’t deserve but it is given because of God’s kindness.

Our Salvation is result of God’s grace

How do we receive the Grace
We receive the gift of God or Grace of God through faith.

Through faith in Christ Jesus we receive Grace.

Salvation comes from Grace and we receive it through faith.

Salvation is not form ourselves
So all our offerings
So all our righteous acts
So all our works
So all our deeds
So all our religious traditions
So all our mighty deeds

All these will not bring Salvation
In simple we cannot buy Salvation

Salvation is God’s gift

So no one can boast.
We cannot boast

Psalm 20:7
Some take pride in chariots, and others in horses,
but we take pride in the name of Yahweh our God.

There is no way of boasting about our salvation.

In Christ Jesus

Grace, Love and Peace to each and everyone in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Matthew 1:21

She will give birth to a son, and you are to name Him Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.”

Last week we learnt what Salvation does to us

* Salvation ensures or gives confidence in our spirit that we receive God’s Mercy, Love and Grace

* Salvation ensures that we are eligible to enter heaven

* Salvation ensures that we are eligible to use the authority of God

* Salvation ensures that we can boldly enter the throne of Grace

This week let’s learn from Ephesians 2:7

So that in the coming ages He might display the immeasurable riches of His grace through His kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

Few points to highlight

* Coming ages

* Display the immeasurable riches His grace

* Through His kindness to us

* In Christ Jesus

We need to understand that the age we are living will be soon gone and a new age and ages will come.

The Six Ages, as formulated by Augustine of Hippo, are defined in De catechizandis rudibus (On the catechizing of the uninstructed), Chapter 22:

The First Age “is from the beginning of the human race, that is, from Adam, who was the first man that was made, down to Noah, who constructed the ark at the time of the flood“, i.e. the Antediluvian period.

The Second Age “extends from that period on to Abraham, who was called the father indeed of all nations”.

The Third Age “extends from Abraham on to David the king”.

The Fourth Age is “from David on to that captivity whereby the people of God passed over into Babylonia”.

The Fifth Age is “from that transmigration down to the advent of our Lord Jesus Christ

The Sixth Age: “With His [Jesus Christ’s] coming the sixth age has entered on its process.

Mark 10:30
but that he will receive a hundred times as much now in the present age, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and farms, along with persecutions; and in the age to come, eternal life

Display the immeasurable riches His grace

John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:16 “From the fullness of His grace we have all received one blessing after another.”

John 1:17 “For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.”

* Through His kindness to us
Kindness means
the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.

Isaiah 54:8
In a surge of anger
I hid My face from you for a moment,
but I will have compassion on you
with everlasting love,”
says the Lord your Redeemer.

Isaiah 63:7
I will make known the Lord’s faithful love
and the Lord’s praiseworthy acts,
because of all the Lord has done for us—
even the many good things
He has done for the house of Israel
and has done for them based on His compassion
and the abundance of His faithful love.

in Christ Jesus
Everything that we have as a Christian is in Christ Jesus

Galatians 3:26
for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.

Galatians 3:28
for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:1
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

Romans 3:22
And this righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no distinction,

Acts 3:16
By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know has been made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through Him that has given him this complete healing in your presence.

Together with Christ Jesus

Grace, Love and Peace to each and everyone in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

For the last three week we have learnt about how we are saved.

We learnt that we are saved
1. Because of God’s rich mercy
2. Because of God’s great love
3. Because of God’s grace

Today we will learn what does God’s mercy, love and grace do to us

Ephesians 2:6

Together with Christ Jesus He also raised us up and seated us in the heavens,

So now let us understand what salvation does to us.

Now Ephesians 2:6 goes on a little more deeper and says now what is our position once we are saved.

We all know that because of Christ’s death on the Cross we have access to God when the veil was torn and the gap between God and man was filled by Jesus Christ.

Now this verse explains some more deeper insights.
We all believe that God raised Jesus from death.

This verse goes on to tell that we also were raised up with Jesus Christ.

I know this is not an easy aspect to comprehend but understand that when Jesus was raised from the death we also were raised from the death.

I think this is more deep.
We don’t tell we will be raised
We don’t tell we will be seated one day

It talks about while we were one earth we have a greater place

Jesus was raised up and so are we
Jesus is seated at the right hand of God and so are we seated in the heavens.

This verse talks about the authority and the position that we have as a born again believer.

How Are We Saved – Week 3

Grace, Love and Peace to each and every one of you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Can someone tell the verse from Mark 11:22-24

So today let us understand how we are saved ?

Ephesians 2:4-5

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love that He had for us,made us alive with the Messiah even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace!

The Word of God explains that we are saved.

How are we saved – Verse 4 & 5 gives us three reasons why we are saved.

1. Because of God’s rich mercy

2. Because of God’s great love

3. Because of God’s grace

Bible gives us a clear picture about God’s Grace

Ephesians 2:8-9 (Grace of God is a gift)
For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift— not from works, so that no one can boast.

Romans 3:24 (Grace of God freed us)

Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.

1 Corinthians 15:10 (Grace of God makes us like God)

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.

Hebrews 4:16 (Grace of God helps us in time of need)

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Grace of God is Gift

Grace of God frees us

Grace of God make us like God

Grace of God helps us in time of need

How Are We Saved – Week – 2

Grace, Love and Peace to each and every one of you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

2 Timothy 2:15 KJV

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not
to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Ephesians 2:4-5
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love that He had for us,5 made us alive with the Messiah even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace!

The Word of God explains that we are saved.

How are we saved – Verse 4 & 5 gives us three reasons why we are saved.
1. Because of God’s rich mercy
2. Because of God’s great love
3. Because of God’s grace

Bible gives us a clear picture about God’s Love

1 John 4:16-19 – God is love
And we have known and believed the love that God has to us. God is love; and he that dwells in love dwells in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear: because fear has torment. He that fears is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us.

1 John 4:9 – 11 – God’s love is sacrificial
9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Romans 8:37-39 – God’s love is inseparable
37
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Isaiah 54:10 – God’s love is unshakable
Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the
Lord, who has compassion on you.

Psalm 136:26 – God’s love endures forever
26
Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever.

How Are We Saved – Week – 1

Grace, Love and Peace to each and every one of you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

2 Timothy 2:15 KJV

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth.

Last week we learnt that we should not consider ourselves greater than others and we should not consider ourselves inferior to others as well.

So today let us understand why are we saved

Ephesians 2:4-5
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love that He had for us,made us alive with the Messiah even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace!

The Word of God explains that we are saved.

How are we saved – Verse 4 & 5 gives us three reasons why we are saved.
1. Because of God’s rich mercy
2. Because of God’s great love
3. Because of God’s grace

In all these three points we don’t find anything to do with us, like:
* Our merit
* Our works
* Our righteousness
* Our faithfulness
* Our spirituality
* Our greatness

1. Because of God’s rich mercy

What does Mercy mean?
compassion or forgiveness shown towards someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm.

In simpler terms Mercy means we deserve punishment but we are not given that punishment.

Bible gives us a clear picture about God’s Mercy

Luke 6:35-36
God’s mercy enables us to love even our enemies as well
But love your enemies, do what is good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is gracious to the ungrateful and evil. 36 Be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.

1 Peter 1:3
God’s mercy made us alive

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

1 Timothy 1:16
God’s mercy makes us display Jesus Christ

But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.

Deuteronomy 4:31
God’s mercy does not leave us like orphans

For the Lord your God is a merciful God. He will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that he swore to them.

Jeremiah 3:12
God’s mercy removes His anger which is upon us because of our faithlessness
Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, “Return, faithless Israel,” declares the Lord. “I will not look on you in anger, for I am merciful, declares the Lord;” “I will not be angry forever.”

Joel 2:13
God’s mercy rescues us from disaster

And rend your hearts and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.

Lamentations 3:22
God’s mercy will never end

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end.

The Spirit Working In The Disobedient

Grace, Love and peace to each and everyone of you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Let us give importance to study the Word of God

2 Timothy 2:15 KJV
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth.

Ephesians 2:1-2

And you were dead in your trespasses and sins in which you previously walked according to the ways of this world, according to the ruler who exercises authority over the lower heavens, the spirit now working in the disobedient.

Last week we studied how we were dead in trespasses and sins

Today let us study 4 important points:

1* What was our previous condition

2* According to whose authority did we walk

3* Where does the ruler of this world exercise authority in

4* What is the reason we walk in disobedience

1* What was our previous condition
No one is born as a righteous person

Romans 3:9-12
What then? Are we any better? Not at all! For we have previously charged that both Jews and Gentiles are all under sin, 10 as it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one. 11 There is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. 12 All have turned away; all alike have become useless. There is no one who does what is good, not even one.

We all were dead in trespasses and sins
We all have walked according to the ways of the world.

This is what as a believer we need to understand we were not holy, we were not righteous but we were all dead in trespasses and sins.

We all have walked the course of the world
We all have walked in the way of the world.

2* According to whose authority did we walk

Whose authority did we walk ?
You might say I did not walk according to anyone’s authority but I walked according to my own desire and I am free.

That is the trap of Satan. It makes us think that we are in control but in reality we are under the authority of Satan.

Revelation 12:9
So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world;
he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

3* Where does the ruler of this world exercise authority in

The Word of God clearly says the ruler of this world exercises authority over the lower heavens

Can we see that the ruler of the world is not exercising authority in the heavens but the lower heavens which means it is controlling the air or the environment.

4* What is the reason we walk in disobedience
The spirit now working in the disobedient.

We see the truths that have been revealed that the disobedient are not working according to their own desire but they are led by the spirit.

The spirit of the ruler of the world or the air is controlling over those who are disobedient.

This verse implies that disobedience is caused by the spirit
Obedience comes through the Spirit of God.

Power Of Words

Grace, Love and Peace to each and everyone in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Words play an important role in any individual life.
Many times we neglect the power of Words

Matthew 12:36 – 37
36 I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account
for every careless word they speak
37 for by your words you will be justifiedand by your words you will be condemned.”

Words make us or break us
Words heal us or make us sick

According to the Bible, Words destroy us or make us full of life, happiness and health.
The words that we spoke yesterday make our life of what it is today.
Mark 11:23
Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.

What we say, that is what we will be receiving.
The situations might be in chaos but we say what we believe rather than what we see

2 Corinthians 5:7
We walk by faith, not by sight.

We can declare we are sick or we can declare we are healed
We can declare we are poor or we can declare we are rich
We can declare we are in bondage or we can declare we are redeemed
We can declare we are captive or we can declare we are set free
We can declare we are affected or we can declare we are released

What we say should be with belief and not with doubt.
Doubt is like a climber which climbs slowly and starts affecting our life gradually.

When we say we should believe that it will come to pass and it will be done to you.

Know Your Enemy

Grace, Love and Peace to each and everyone in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

We began our Killer series last week and we had the Introduction
As a believer we need to know our:
1. Position
2. Source
3. Rock
4. Enemy

Today we will start learning about our enemy
If we know our enemy well we will be able to handle our enemy by knowing the tactics and plans he has against us.

Knowing the character of our enemy should make us cautious how to handle him and how to tackle the arrows that Satan is throwing at us

Ephesians 6:11
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

1 Peter 5:8
Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

John 8:44
You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Zechariah 3:1-2
1 Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right side to accuse him. 2 The LORD said to Satan, “The LORD rebuke you, Satan! The LORD, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you! Is not this man a burning stick snatched from the fire?”
Matthew 4:3
The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

2 Thessalonians 2:9
The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie,

Devil is a:
Thief
Adversary (opponent)
Roaring lion
Murderer
Liar
father of lies
accuser
Tempter
Lawless one

Dead in Trespasses and sins

Grace, Love and Peace to each and everyone in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Reading the Word of God is a blessing
Studying the Word of God is a blessing
Understanding the Word of God is a blessing

2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

We study the Word of God to show ourselves approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

We don’t study to show others we are approved by God
We don’t study to show others how eloquent we are
We don’t study to show others how great we are in scriptures

Even the devil can quote verses better than us, so study the Word of God to show ourselves approved unto God and not to others.

We will be studying from Ephesians 2

Don’t forget this letter was written to the Church of Ephesus.
Ephesus was a business center and a lot of people with different cultural backgrounds used to come.

Ephesians 2:1 – 2
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience—

This verse talks about our earlier situation or condition
We thought we were alive when we were not saved.

Ephesians 2:6
and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

So all those people who have not been saved you are still dead and not alive.

Ephesians 2 starts of with very strong and powerful words.
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins.

Every person who is in sin and transgression are dead

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 1:32
Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things are worthy of death, they not only continue to do these things, but also approve of those who practice them.

Ephesians 2:1 is a very strong statement and as a believer we need to understand that people who are not saved are still walking in the way of disobedience and we need to have the passion and desire to save them from hell.

Jude 1:23
save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.

Don’t forget our situation before we came to know about God.
We were dead in our sins and transgressions.

Let us make sure we do not walk in the path of death and we will not allow ourselves to walk in that path because it is going to land up in hell and eternal death.
