We all are zealous of one thing or the other. We all have goals and we all have things that we have to do in our life time. We will say in my life time I will do so and so.
What does zealous mean?
Zealous means to be passionate, to be enthusiastic, to be keen, and to be obsessive.
Few are passionate about reading & writing.
Few are passionate about playing.
Few are passionate about doing good.
Few are passionate about doing bad.
But are we passionate about God.
We will be ready to stand for anything except God and His Kingdom.
We will be ready to stand for people but not for God & His people.
It is time for us to rise up and to be zealous for our God. People might not like you, people might blame you, people might find fault but don’t stop being zealous for God.
Num 25:10 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Num 25:11 Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy.
Num 25:12 Wherefore say, Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace:
Num 25:13 And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel.
There was a situation in which people started to commit adultery and follow other people’s practices. They started to do whatever they want and whatever they felt.
This raged anger in God and there was a plague that affected the people of Israel.
Let us understand this whenever we rage anger of God we are in great trouble many a times we have raged anger in God through our practices, our belief system, our thinking and by twisting the Word of God for our benefits.
Phinehas took a strong decision by killing the man and the Midianitish woman because of their mistake and let us see what God tells for this.
- The wrath of God was turned away from the children of Israel
When we are zealous for God we make sure we will do what God wants and our works will be only to please God rather than people.
When we are zealous for God we will be making sure the will of God is being fulfilled rather than the will of the people.
Phinehas did the will of God and the wrath of God turned away.
- Covenant of peace
When we are zealous for God though people might not like us but when God’s peace is in us there is nothing that can take away our peace. God gives a covenant of peace for each and every one of us who are zealous for God.
People are searching for peace while God says if you are zealous for God and His work we have the covenant of peace.
- Everlasting priesthood
God gives an everlasting priesthood when God says everlasting he means everlasting not just down here on earth but also everlasting priesthood. What an amazing promise God is giving to those who are zealous for God.
How many times have we been coward and hid ourselves because people were against us or against God. We were not zealous for God and His Kingdom we kept silent because we thought we might lose our friendship, or because we thought we might look like a fool, or because we thought that people might keep us far while we forget the main aspects we forgot by not being zealous for God.
Are we zealous for God?
Stop being a coward and let us start being zealous for God.
