Are we really living a true Christian life?
It is easy to say we are living a Christian life, but are we really living a true Christian life?
In this sermon we are going to learn the five checkpoints for Christian life.
5 Checkpoints to examine:
1. Confessing and Repentance
Proverbs 28:13 – Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
The verse clearly states that if we confess and renounce, we will find mercy from God.
It is very important to receive mercy from God. If we don’t receive mercy we will be perished.
Lamentations 3:22-23 – His mercy is new every morning.
Psalm 32:5 – Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, ” I will confess my transgressions to the LORD” and you forgave the guilt of my sin.
This verse clearly states that, we should confess our sins to the LORD and He will forgive even the guilt of that sin. What a privilege to be set free from the guilt of that sin. Today there are many who are living in the guilt of the sin but LORD is telling you can be free from the guilt if we confess.
Colossians 3:13 – Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone, forgive as the LORD forgave you.
It clearly states, bear with each other. Bearing with each other is the need of the hour, today we say we are Christians but we cannot bear with one another. It is easy to bear who are right and living spiritual life but it is not easy to bear with the faults of people. Bible says forgive as the LORD forgave you.
Matthew 6:14-15 – For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
Forgiving people is the sign that we have grown spiritually. If we are still stuck with unforgiving then we haven’t grown spiritually. Do not forget forgiving is the major aspect in Christianity.
Jesus when He was hanging on the cross, He opened His mouth to say, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”
John 4:24 – God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.
Worship is needed for every Christian. Today many think worship is only about some song, music or the worship leader. It is a big NO, Worship is about Jesus and you. Not about the music, song or the leader.
God spoke to Moses and the Chief priests right from between the cherubim in the most holy place.
Cherubim resembles worship. Right in between the worship God speaks. As I said Worship is about Jesus and You.
Your heart and God’s heart getting united.
4. Listening to His voice
Luke 11:28 – Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.
Blessed are the people who hear the voice of God. Today we have very few people who really hear the Word of God that is the reason we have many people who are still living with anger, hatred, jealousy, envy and worldly desires.
As a Christian we need to listen to His voice. John 10 clearly states that, “My Sheep listen to My Voice, and they follow Me.” Today very few Christians who are listening to the voice of God.
Proverbs: 16:20 – Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is to one who trusts in the LORD.
Giving heed to the instruction of the Lord is important for a Christian.
5. Reading the Word of God and praying
Joshua 1:8 – This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; but you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written therein, for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.
Today people want to be successful in everything they do but they forget that success comes from God alone. Word of God clearly states that success is my meditating the Word of God and living according to it.
